Mission

At KCHS/JH and Haviland Schools, the band program is committed to scholarship, excellence, and progress. We believe in giving students the skills and tools they need to become successful musicians and outstanding people. 

This program provides students with many opportunities to continue developing in music. Students will gain strength in their musical knowledge and skills through reading, listening, composing, notating, analyzing, and playing. In order for students to obtain these skills, students will also learn about theory, history, and culture of different genres of music. 

Through dedication, creative and active learning, and even a little fun, students will grow into great musicians and people. In the words of Aaron Copland, “To stop the flow of music would be like the stopping of time itself, incredible and inconceivable”.
